History

Tunisia has many museums and historic buildings and sites worth a visit. Cartago, which was a significant city during the Roman ages, is one example.

In the 200 and 100 centuries B.C., during the Puner Wars, conflicts rose against Rome, another powerful city in the Mediterranian area. Despite Hannibal's successful leadership in leading his army through the Alpes with elephants, he lost Cartago in the ultimate war. The city was conquered and destroyed by the Romans in the year 146 B.C.
